Mattice, Loiree E. (15 July 1913 - 3 Feb. 2007)

HARTFORD - Loiree E. (Christman) Mattice (Mathwig), 93, of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.

She was born July 15, 1913 in Frankford, S.D., to Walter and Stella (Boughton) Mathwig. Loiree married Marvin Christman in 1937, in Loyal, Wis. That year they moved to Hartford where he was employed at Central Chevrolet as a mechanic. He later built and operated Marv's Super Service Station on Highway 60 E. After his death in 1965, she married Orval Mattice in 1967.

Loriee graduated from Loyal High School in 1932 and Stevens Point Teacher's College in 1933. She taught in the rural areas of Clark and Washington counties. She was a member of the Senior Doers and a former member of the First Congregational Church of Hartford, where she had belonged for 56 years. She was an avid Brewers fan, loved playing cards and loved spending time with her family. Ceramics was her hobby.

Loriee was the loving mother of Carole (Melvin) Henke, Hartford, Carmen (Maureen) Christman, Hustisford, and Kevin (Mary) Christman, Slinger; a brother, Stanley Mathwig, Juneau; seven grandchildren, Peggy (Brad) Kuhn, Scott (Laura) Henke, Brian (Janet) Henke, Pam (Andy) Zipperer, Paul (Shelly) Christman, Cindy (Troy) Schulz and Crista Christman; 12 great-grandchildren, Nolan and Grant Henke, Troy and Eric Kuhn, Maggie and Hannah Zipperer, Seth and Haley Henke, Cassidy and Kelly Christman and Saddie and Savannah Schulz; a step-daughter, Melodie (John) Illgen; three step-grandchildren, Henry Illgen, Melanie Edict and Jeff Marks; two step-great-grandchildren, Gabriel Marasch and Alexander Marks; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two husbands, Marvin Christman and Orval Mattice.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday at the Shimon Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.

The Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, is assisting the family.
