Hedler, Frank (7 DEC 1859 - 3 MAY 1939)

Frank Hedler, 79, died at his home in the town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) on May 3rd, 1939 of a heart attack (chronic myocarditis). He has been ailing for some time.

Mr. Hedler was one of the old timers and pioneers of Thorp, and his pleasant face and ready will be sadly missed by relatives and many friends who knew him best. He was a lover of horse and raised many of excellent breed on his farm in Reseburg. Mr. Hedler was born in Plymouth, Wis., on Dec. 7, 1859, and came to Thorp from Kiel in 1884, first running a livery barn here for five years before purchasing the farm where he lived until death. On Nov. 15, 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Crowley of Thorp. To this union was born ten children, one of whom, Frank Jr., preceded him in death in 1921. Surviving relatives are four sons, Tom, Leo, Leland and Fred of Thorp, five daughters, (Margaret), Mrs. Nick J. Gengler of Medford, Misses Clara and Ollie Hedler, (Harriet), Mrs. Edwin Schmidt, (Nellie), Mrs. Frank J. Schmidt, all of Thorp; one brother, Wm. Hedler of Mass, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. August Loeffler of Miland, Wis., Mrs. Clara Kazmeier of Kiel, and twenty-seven grandchildren.

Rev. A.M. Muckerheide sang the requiem high mass for the deceased at 9:30 Saturday morning at St. Bernard’s Church, and the remains were laid to rest in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred, Tom, Leo and Leland Hedler, sons of the deceased, and Frank and Edwin Schmidt, sons-in-law.
