Holtz, Augusta Johanne Wilhelmine (25 May 1867 - 6 Oct. 1942)

Mrs. August Holtz passed away at 6:05 Tuesday, October 6th, at the home of her daughter, Mr. Leroy Allen, where she was taken after her return from the Marshfield Hospital two weeks ago.

The departed was born May 25, 10867, in Stargard, Germany, her maiden name being Augusta Johanne Wilhelmine Retzloff. She came to America at the age of 25. Her marriage to August Holtz took place Nov. 19, 1892, in Bayfield County, Wis., moving to a farm east of Neillsville about 42 years ago. They later took up a home nearer the city of Neillsville, where they had lived for the past 25 years.

Mrs. Holtz, was a member and loyal worker in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church and of the Woman’s Guild of that organization for many years.

She is survived by her husband and seven children, namely: Emma, Mrs. William Bey, Marshfield; Ella, Mrs. Leo Brickheimer, Marshfield; Martha, Mrs. Leroy Allen, Neillsville; Minnie, Mrs. H. G. Bechel, Milwaukee; Hilda, Mrs. Elmer Hartnagel, Independence, and Ernest and Walter Holtz of Neillsville, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Jaster Funeral Home, followed by services at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church, the Rev. Ben Stucki officiating. Burial will be made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
