Peterson, Marlene Mildred (28 Feb. 1936 - 15 Aug. 2006)

OWEN -- Marlene Mildred Petersen, 70, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Clark County Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg will officiate. Burial will be in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery, Withee, Wis. Pallbearers will be Kay Miller, Les Craven, Curt Garrett, Michael Petersen, Matthew Petersen and Ryan Petersen. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Marlene was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Minneapolis to Arthur and Mildred (Hillrigal) Gastler. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Marlene and The Rev. Paul Petersen were married Nov. 25, 1960, in Chaska, Minn. He died Oct. 11, 2001. Marlene enjoyed children, working several years for Head Start as a social worker, a Day Care Coordinator, and working with special needs children at school. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crafts. Marlene loved to sew for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served on the church council.

Marlene is survived by her children Sonja (Arlen) Hefta of Mayville, N.D., William (Heidi) Petersen of Wannaska, Minn., and Kaj (Loralee) Petersen of Two Rivers; her grandchildren, Ingrid, Signe and Anneliese Hefta, Matthew, Ryan, Katie, Sadie and Torie Petersen, Michael, Kimberly, Stephanie and Trinity Petersen; and one sister, Gloria (Richard) Meyer of Scotch Plains, N.J.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, The Rev. Paul Petersen.
