Olson, Gladys (Marriage - 1 June 1940)

Miss Gladys Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olson, and Willard Frome, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Frome, were united in marriage Saturday, June 1, 1940, at Zion’s Lutheran church in Colby, Rev. O. H. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony.

The bride was lovely in her gown of white mousseline de soie velveray fashioned with shirred bodice and full puffed sleeves with detachable gauntlets. Her Queen Anne collar had a dainty seed pearl bow clip ornamenting the neckline and the fullness of her all around full bouffant skirt, created a gorgeous train. Her long silk all illusion veil edged with chantilly lace fell from a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of talisman roses and swansonia.

The bridesmaids, Carol Franz and Roselyn Vanderhoof, wore similar dresses of mousseline de soie velveray, blue and pink respectively, will full puffed sleeves and tiny buttons from neck to waistline down the back and a Queen Anne collar with dainty seed pearl bow clip to finish center of neckline. They wore matching headbands and shoulder length veils and carried colonial bouquets of talisman roses, sweet peas and swansonia.

Laverne Olson was best man and Edwin Frome groomsman.

A wedding reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents, covers being laid for sixty. The home was nicely decorated with forget-me-nots and narcissus.

In the evening, a wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion.

The couple left for Northern Wisconsin on a wedding trip and will be at home in Colby, Wis., after June 15th. The groom is employed in the bride’s father’s cheese factory.

Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schall, Frank Schall, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wagner, Miss Mildred Vanderhoof, Terrence Collins, and Verlin Wagner, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson, Westboro; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hanson and daughter, Cleo, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fenner, Winchester; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Frome, Westboro; Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Bergner, Athens; Miss Ruby Weber, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franz and daughters, Carol and Velta, Abbotsford and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vanderhoof, Spencer, Wis.
