Wiersig, Erma (Marriage - 27 June 1940)

A pretty home wedding took place last Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock when Miss Erma Wiersig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wiersig, became the bride of Leslie Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Johnson of Greenwood, Wisconsin, at the home of the bride’s parents. Rev. Aaberg, pastor of the Trondhjem Lutheran church of Greenwood, performed the ceremony. Miss Verna Johnson of Chicago, sister of the groom, and Raymond Wiersig, brother of the bride, were the attendants. During the ceremony, two selections were sung by Frederick Schwierske, "Because" and "O Promise Me," accompanied by Miss Winkler of Unity, Wis.

The bride was attired in a becoming street dress of navy cabel net with white. Her bouquet consisted of pink roses, white sweet peas and baby’s breath. Miss Johnson wore a pink street dress and her bouquet was similar to the bride’s.

A reception was held during the afternoon at the home of the bride and a six o’clock dinner was served to about 35 guests. The rooms were beautifully decorated with roses, peonies and primroses. The table was decorated by a double bell wedding cake and lighted candles. A wedding dance was given in the evening at Wiedenhoeft’s park.

The bride is a graduate of Colby, Wis. High School and the Central State Teacher’s College of Stevens Point. She had been teaching the past four years near Loyal. The groom attended the Greenwood High School.

The couple will make their home near Greenwood where the groom is engaged in farming. They plan to take a trip in the fall.
