Gordon G. Moede

CHILI -- Gordon G. Moede, 77, a former Chili resident, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Gold Horizons Assisted Living, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home. The Rev. Dean Pingel will officiate. Entombment will be in McMillan Memorial Gardens Cemetery, town of McMillan, Marathon County, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield. Gordon's nine grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Moede was born March 16, 1930, in Shawano County to Gustave and Leona (Peterman) Moede. He attended Hermansfort School in Shawano County and was a graduate of Shawano High School. He then was employed by Consolidated Badger Company in Shawano. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1949 until 1952, being stationed in Korea and Germany.

He married Betty M. Martzke on Sept. 29, 1951, in Shawano. After their marriage the Moedes resided in the town of Lynn, Clark County, where they farmed for four years and Gordon was also employed by Marshfield Milling Company. He then became employed by Nekoosa Papers and later Georgia Pacific until his retirement in 1992. While working in the paper mill he opened his own trucking and excavating business.

Gordy is survived by his wife, Betty; and his children, Penny (Peter) Droste of Wisconsin Rapids, Peggy (Dan) Montag of Nekoosa, Patty (Jim Zabawa) Bartlett of Nekoosa, Polly (Mike) Meddaugh of Wisconsin Rapids, Glenn Moede of Burnsville, Minn., Gale (Susan) Moede of Hewitt, and Greg Moede of Vesper.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Chad (Stacy) Droste, Cindy (Jo) Krohn, Cheryl (Josh) Krohn, Bradley Sweet, Kyle Sweet, Jeremiah Bartlett, Zachary Bartlett, Shane Scheel, Ashley (Chris) Nelson, Olivia Moede, Erika Moede, Melissa Moede, Chelsea Moede, Trenton Moede, Travis Moede, and Tyler Moede; and great-grandchildren, Anika, Nathan, and Destiny Droste, Dakota Krohn and Elijah Scheel.

He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Isabell Maltbey, Mae (Carl) Krueger, Annabelle (Arnold) Krause, all of Shawano, Marshall (Beatrice) Moede of Clintonville, Elaine (Ray) Midkiff of Germantown, Ohio, Patti (Donna) Moede of Oshkosh, James (Nancy) Moede of Marshfield, and John Moede of San Diego, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Moede of Colby; and a brother-in-law, Robert Johnston of Pewaukee.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Orvis Moede; and sisters, Charlotte Heinz, Lucy Johnston, and Louise Berger.

The family will designate a memorial in Gordon's name at a later date.
