Hanson, Clara (9 Feb. 1873 - 15 Feb. 1942)

Mrs. Clara Hanson of Curtiss passed away last Saturday at the age of 69 years following a lingering illness of cancer. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 16, at the Curtiss Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. G. E. Borreson officiating, and burial was made in the family lot in the parish cemetery. Pall bearers were Ed. Peterson, Arthur Thompson, Marius Moiland, Marcus Hermanson, George Hoff and Fred Machlett. The floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Ed Peterson, Mrs. Chas. Peterson, Mrs. A. M. Erickson and Mrs. Clarence Geary. Gifts amounting to $50 were given by relatives and friends as a memory wreath to be used for missions and the local church. The junior choir of the church sang three hymns - "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "How Blessed is the Little Flock" and "Abide With Me" with Mrs. G. E. Borreson at the organ.

The deceased was born Feb. 9th, 1873, at Westby, Wis., and was married to Henry Hanson on Oct. 25th, 1893, at Westby, Wis. They moved from a farm in Vernon county onto a farm in North Hoard, Clark county, in April 1917. Mr. Hanson passed away on Sept. 26th, 1936. Mrs. Hanson moved into the village of Curtiss where she has since resided.

Surviving are four sons and two daughters - Harold and Earl Hanson of Fifield, Edgar of Butternut, Palmer of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Cornell Erickson (Ruth) of Curtiss, Mrs. Robert Sprague (May) of Rochester, N.Y. Two sons preceded in death. Surviving sisters are Mrs. J. L. Hovde of Sverett, Wash., Mrs. Wm. Paulson of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Axel Sorenson of Sidney, Montana, Mrs. Sidney Frances of Cody, Wyoming, and Mrs. Thenus Samb of Cashton, Wis.

The deceased was a life long member of the Lutheran church and a member of the ladies’ aid of that church.
