Schorer, Robert (11 Apr. 1870 - 28 June 1942)

Robert Schorer died Sunday noon at his farm home in the town of Hull at the age of 72 years after suffering a stroke of paralysis earlier in the day. He apparently was in good health prior to Sunday. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery. The Rev. P. H. Franzmeier of Greenwood will officiate.

The deceased was born in Switzerland on April 11, 1870, and came to the United States at the age of nine years. He lived in West Virginia for a while and in Sheboygan until 47 years ago when he located in the town of Hull, Wood Co., Wis. He was married to Agnes Witte in Colby on March 7th, 1902.

Surviving are his widow; ten children, Mrs. Albert Podevels and Roland and Frederick Schorer of Colby, Mrs. Ferdinand Schorer of Stratford, Mrs. Alfred Nickisch and Mrs. Frank Wensauer of Sheboygan. Mrs. Elmer Zander of Wausau, Privates Elmer and Ervin Schorer of Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Private Robert Schorer, Jr., of British Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Bolz of Sheboygan, Mrs. Fred Klein of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Chris Schultz of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Otto Lemke of Milwaukee; five brothers, Rudolph Schorer of Sheboygan, Ernest Schorer of Sheboygan Falls, Fred Schorer of Sheboygan, William Schorer of Colby, Wis., and Louis Schorer of Abbotsford; and 11 grand children.

Funeral services for Robert Schorer were held last Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the First Evangelical and Reformed church at Colby, Rev. P. H. Franzmeier of Greenwood officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Fred and Emil Wolk, William Voss, Charles Hanne, Otto Zander and Eugene Thiel. Grand children were in charge of the flowers and were Albert Podevels, Jr., Patricia Nickisch, Lyle and Frank Wensauer and Delores, Ralph and Carol Jean Schillinger.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nickisch and daughter, Patricia, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wensauer and sons, Lyle and Frank, Jr., Mrs. Freida Bolz and son, Elmer, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Schorer, Fred Schorer, Mrs. Harvey Schorer and Mrs. Reuben Boeldt, all of Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zander, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Zander and Mrs. Adeline McDowett and daughter, Charlotte, of Wausau, Mrs. Charles Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Werner and daughter, Edward Kern and Raymond and Alvin Werner of Minneapolis, Miss Myrtle Schorer of Chicago, Mrs. Ernest Gottschalk and daughter, Betty Mae of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Werner of Dorchester, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Schillinger of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Tlustry and son of Medford, Pvt. Elmer and Pvt. Erin Schorer of Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Mrs. Burdett McNaul of Chili.
