Smudde, Beatrice V. (Marriage - 26 Sept. 1945)

In a pretty fall wedding which took place Sept. 26, at 9 a.m., at the Sacred Heart church in Eau Claire, Miss Beatrice V. Smudde, daughter of Nick Smudde, of Colby, became the bride of Jerome L. Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Larson, Eau Claire.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin wedding gown inserted with lace and designed with long sleeves and a full skirt extending into a court train. Her long veil of illusion appliquéd with satin lace and heart motifs, was caught to a coronet of seed pearls and rhinestones and she carried a colonial bouquet of roses and asters.

The bridesmaid, Mrs. Lorraine Larson, wore a blue chiffon frock and matching shoulder veil, while the maid of honor, Miss Bernice Kubaski, was attired in a pink satin and chiffon frock. Their corsages were composed of the same kinds of flowers carried by the bride. Their gold earrings were gifts of the bride.

The groom was attended by his brother, Lorraine Larson, and Gerald Stolp, both of Eau Claire.

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the groom’s parents, and later in the day 50 guests were entertained at a reception held at the Smudde home decorated with pink and white ribbons and flowers. Mrs. Schultz and Mrs. Harold Block, of Colby, were in charge. A three-tier wedding cake served as the centerpiece of the table. That evening a wedding dance was given in the Fournier’s hall in Eau Claire.

Mrs. Larson was granted an honorable discharge from the WAC a year ago, going then to Marshfield where she was employed last winter at the Vogue Beauty Shop. In the spring she left for Eau Claire where she now operates her own shop.

When they return from their honeymoon the couple will reside in Eau Claire.

Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lorraine Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Larson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Stolop, Miss Angeline Fabbric, Miss Bernice Kubaski, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Jordan and daughter, Rose Marie, of Unity; Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Kesler and sons, Herbert Kesler, seaman first class, and Vernon Kesler, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smudde and family of Colby and Mrs. Charles Schmidt of Menomonie.

Mrs. Larson, the groom’s mother, and Miss Kubaski were hostesses at prenuptial parties for the bride.
