Kapszukiewicz, Steve (1875? - 11 JUN 1940)

Last rites were conducted by Rev. W. Kolman at St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church at Gilman, Wis., last Friday morning at ten o’clock for Steve Kapszukiewicz, 65, who passed away at his home here on June 11th, 1940.

Mr. Kapszukiewicz was a former resident of this community, coming to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in the year 1900 from Jewett City, Conn. He lived on a farm in the town of Withee for many years before going to Gilman where he went into business as a merchant. He was born in Russia in 1875 and came to America at the age of ten years. In 1897 he was united in marriage at Jewett City, Conn., to Louis Michalski, who still survives. Other relatives left to mourn are his mother, Victoria Kapszukiewicz, four sons, John, Peter, Laurence of Gilman, and Philip of Thorp; four daughters, Victoria Dietzler and Stella Kapszukiewicz of Chicago, Mary Baginski of Westmont, Ill., and Katherine Dietzler of Gilman; and two brothers, Felix of Gilman and William of Jewett City, Conn.

He was laid to rest in Meadowbrook Cemetery at Gilman, the following serving as pallbearers: John Stasuk, Joe Wisniewski, Louis Zaborowski, John Jarmoluk, B.L. Slota and K. Gonia.
