Hainzlsperger, Harold (26 Nov. 1919 - 7 Mar. 1945)

Harold Hainzlsperger, age 25, son of John Hainzlsperger, town of Hull, Wis., P.O. address Route 1, Unity, was taken to the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, after being given first aid at the Colby clinic, with a compound fracture of the right leg and a fractured left leg which he sustained early Monday morning in an auto accident on county trunk N in the town of Hull, Wis. He died of his injuries Wednesday morning at 12:15 at the hospital. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday morning at 9:00 o’clock, Rev. Francis A. Bienkowski officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home.

Hainzlsperger had stopped his car to permit his companion, Miss Lucinda Wiersig, age 25, to leave the car to enter her home. The car stalled in an icy rut and Hainzlsperger was in back of his car pushing it when LaVerne Pacholke, town of Hull, hit the vehicle.

Miss Wiersig sustained a cut above the right ankle as she leaped to safety when she saw the Pacholke car approaching. Hainzlsperger, however, did not jump in time and was caught between his car and a mail box post. It was necessary to pry the car loose before he could be taken to the Colby clinic.

Pacholke pleaded guilty to a reckless driving charge before Judge Frank P. Regner, in Marathon county court Monday morning and was fined $25 and costs, totaling $40.53.

A. W. Burek, Marathon county coroner, stated that there would "possibly be an inquest."

The deceased was born in Milwaukee on Nov. 26th, 1919. The family lived in Neillsville before moving to Unity, Wis. Surviving besides his parents are his grand father, Joseph Hainzlsperger of Colby and nine brothers and sisters - John Hainzlsperger of Henderson, Minn., Mrs. George Schneider of Colby, Ervin Hainzlsperger in service in Washington, D.C., and Florian, Eleanor, LeRoy, Viola, Raymond and Virginia Hainzlsperger, at home.
