Bauer, Marie (Marriage - 1 June 1946)

Nuptial vows were exchanged by Miss Marie Bauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.William A. Bauer, Colby, and Gilbert F. Jastrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jastrow, Milwaukee, in a double-ring ceremony at the rectory of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Milwaukee June 1st.

White lace and net fashioned the gown of the bride. Her veil fell to her fingertips from a coronet of seed pearls and orange blossoms. Frocks of white taffeta and net were worn by Mrs. Edwin Merkel, sister of the bride, matron of honor, and Miss Martha Weyer, the bridesmaid. Sally Jastrow, sister of the groom, the junior bridesmaid, and Carol Ann Hollman, niece of the bride, the flower girl, wore floor-length frocks of aqua and pink net and lace. All attendants carried colonial bouquets of snapdragons, carnations and lilies of the valley.

The groom was attended by Mr. Erwin Merkel and Charles Lapinski.

Dinner was served at Norton’s restaurant and a reception was held in the evening at the Federal post hall in Milwaukee.

The bride is employed at the office of the Milwaukee Steel Foundry company. The groom, recently discharged from the army, served in the Pacific and CBI theaters with the medical corps and is now employed at the Tri-Clover Manufacturing company in Milwaukee. The couple is now at home in Milwaukee, following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin.
