Kelsey, Doris J. (Marriage - 26 Dec. 1946)

Miss Doris J. Kelsey, daughter of G. H. Kelsey of Abbotsford, and C. R. Whitney, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Whitney, Sr., of Colby, exchanged marriage vows Thursday, Dec. 26th, at the Presbyterian church at Abbotsford, Rev. G. S. Griffiths reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Lenore Berry of Colby was maid of honor and Mrs. J. Kelsey of Abbotsford and Audrey Whitney of Colby were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Ben Riplinger and Jack Kelsey. Merle Jenks accompanied by Faith Pucker sang "Oh Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

The bride was attired in a gown of net yoke, satin bodice and peplin net skirt. Her bouquet consisted of gardenania, baby mums and miniature carnations. Miss Berry wore a dress of pink net and her colonial bouquet consisted of pink roses and white mums. The bridesmaids wore white net dresses, fashioned similar to that of the maid of honor and their bouquets were also similar to that of the maid of honor’s.

A wedding reception for 50 guests was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the home being decorated with sprays of holly and a huge wedding cake. The couple left on a wedding trip to the southern part of the state and will be at home after Jan. 2, at 1825 Vahlen Ave., Madison.

The bride is a graduate of the Abbotsford High School and a graduate of Radler School of Nursing, Rochester, Minn. For the past year and a half she had been employed at the Memorial Hospital at Wausau. The groom is a graduate of the Colby High School and is now attending the University of Wisconsin school of engineering.

Out of town people here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. M. Whitney and Mr. and Mrs. H. Whitney of Decorah, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. H. LaFond of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bandlow of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. T. Rodersen and Mr. and Mrs. O. Perry of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. L. Randall of Appleton, Mrs. Ann Daley of Tomahawk, Geo. Kanarek of Milwaukee, Mrs. C. Larson, Mrs. H. Christiansen, Miss J. Bauman, Miss M. Decanter, Miss D. Hemfer, Miss P. Hintz, Miss J. Kysmark and Miss F. Pucker, all of Wausau.
