Pokallus, Bernice (Marriage - 31 May 1947)

Amid altars bedecked with white and pink peonies and lighted candles, a double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Danti at St. Rita’s church, Milwaukee, Saturday morning, uniting Bernice Pokallus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Pokallus, and Thomas Alioto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Alioto.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a dress of white nylon marquisette, colonial style, and lace mitts. Her finger tip veil was secured by orange blossoms and seed pearls. Her only attendant was her sister Mary, of Algoma. The bride wore a necklace of pearls, a gift of the groom. She carried a white prayer book. Her colonial bouquet consisted of white roses, carnations, and lilies of the valley.

The groom was attended by his only brother, Vito. The maid of honor wore a pale blue marquisette colonial style gown and mitts to match the bride’s. Her headdress and colonial bouquet consisted of roses and sweet peas. She also wore a rhinestone bracelet, a gift of the bride. Mothers of both the bride and groom wore corsages of white carnations and rosebuds.

A wedding breakfast was held at the home for the bridal party and parents. A one o’clock dinner followed by a reception was held at the Hotel Medford.

The bride, a graduate of Milwaukee Business Institute, has been employed the past four years at the Frederick Post Co. The groom is office manager of the same company. The young couple left on a trip to the lakes in northern Wisconsin. They will be at home to friends after June 10, at 2855 A-North Buffum St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
