Meverden, Verna (Marriage - 16 Aug. 1947)

Miss Verna Meverden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royal S. Meverden of Birnamwood, Wis., became the bride of Daniel James Corrigan III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Corrigan II of San Fransisco, Calif., Saturday, August 16th, 1947. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Draegenmueller at 7:30 o’clock in the evening in St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Birnamwood. Mrs. Chas. Meyer played the wedding music and Miss Gloria Meyer sang, "O Perfect Love."

The bride was attired in a white satin gown with lace inserts decorating the neckline, sleeves and the train, tiny buttons down the back, a fingertip veil with a matching head tiara. Her bridal bouquet consisted of yellow roses and white mums. The groom’s gift to the bride consisted of Deltah oriental pearls.

Miss Leona Meverden, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Merville Meverden, sister in law of the bride of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Merlin Untiet, a friend of the bride of Stratford, Wis. The bridesmaids wore taffeta dresses of blue and yellow. Their bouquets consisted of pink roses, gladiolas and mums.

The groom was attended by Merville Meverden, brother of the bride of Madison, and Merlin Untiet, a friend of the bride of Stratford. A wedding reception for 120 guests was held after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents.

After a brief trip through Northern Wisconsin, the couple will honeymoon enroute to their home in California by way of the Black Hills, Yellowstone National Park and Lake Tahoe. The bride attended Central State Teachers’ College in Stevens Point, Wis., and then taught in Colby and Hartford. She is now employed by the Tulare City Schools, at Tulare, Calif. The groom is a technician and announcer at the Radio Station KOOK, Tulare. The couple will be at home to friends at 109 ½ North O. Street, Tulare, Calif., after Wednesday, Aug. 27th.
