Herrmann, Oscar Frederick (26 Apr. 1888 - 27 May 1947)

Funeral services for Oscar Herrmann, whose death was reported last week, were held Saturday afternoon at the First Evangelical and Reformed church, Rev. Robert Leonhardt officiating. During the service, the choir sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." Eugene Herrmann, a nephew of the deceased, sang a solo, "The Old Rugged Cross." Internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Peter Beyerl, Frank Beyerl, Ed Stock, Otto Dins, C. R. Whitney and Alvin Brehm. Those in charge of the flowers were Miss Evelyn Herrmann, Miss Lois Ebert, Mrs. Gaylord Pipkorn, Mrs. Alphonse Herrmann, Mrs. Donald Zillman, Mrs. Vernon Schmidt, Mrs. Adolph Wessel and Mrs. Harold Horn.

Oscar Frederick Herrmann was born April 26, 1888, on a farm in the town of Colby, of which he had been a resident all his life. He had been in poor health for the past year, suffering from a heart ailment and nervous condition. He had been a patient at the Wausau Memorial hospital and Rogers Memorial Sanitorium at Oconomowoc during that time. He departed from this life at his home on May 27, at the age of 59 years, one month and one day. He was married to Bertha Ebert on Dec. 18, 1917. Six children were born to this union. During his life he was secretary of the Colby Co-operative Cheese factory 19 years and treasurer of the school board 18 years. He was a member of the church council and the town board. At the time of his death, he was a director of the Harmony Co-operative Produce Co. and a director of the Hull Mutual Insurance Co. He was baptized and confirmed and was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church all his life.

Mr. Herrmann leaves to mourn his death his wife and five children, Mrs. Arnold (Ruth) Ruprich of Dorchester, Mrs. Royal (Irene) Awe of Colby, Kenneth of Milwaukee, and Edward and Clinton, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Louise Herrmann, two brothers, Alfred and William, and one daughter who died in infancy. Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. Charles Schmidt of Milan and Mrs. Ed Zillmann of Colby, and one grandson, Robert Ruprich.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmidt and son Alfred of Milan, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Schmidt and daughter Jana, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Pipkorn, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Herrmann and son, James, Eugene Herrmann and Kenneth Herrmann, all of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Herrmann of Curtiss, Wm. Hecker and Mrs. Tillie Goodale of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Zillmann and children, Miss Evelyn Herrmann, Mrs. Amelia Gray and two nieces of Eau Claire, Herman Zillmann of Baldwin, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Blair of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ruprich and son, Robert, of Dorchester, Alvin Ruprich of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ebert and daughter of Loyal, Mrs. Ida Horn and son, Glenn, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wessel and son, Everett, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Horn of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ebert and Mr. and Mrs. I. Fisher and son, Bob, of Dover, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Ole Anderson of Rochester, Minn.
