Gottschalk, William Frederick (17 Oct. 1889 - 10 Aug. 1947)

Funeral services for William Frederick Gottschalk, whose death was reported last week, were held Thursday afternoon at the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. J. C. Klingeberger officiating, and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery. Pall bearers were Mike Nosbisch, Louis Gosse, Harley Powers, Earl Wenzel, Wm. Neuhaus and Oscar Dittmeyer. Those in charge of the flowers were Dorothy Gosse, Alvera Nosbisch, Mardell Neuman, Lucille Augustine, Dorene Mandel and Shirley Thielig.

The deceased was born on Oct. 17th, 1890, thus reaching the age of 57 years, 9 months, and 24 days. He was married to Adel Johnson at Green Grove on Aug. 6, 1913.

Surviving are his widow and ten children - Mrs. Orville (Alvina) Baumgart of Colby, Harvey of Unity, Myrtle of Chicago, Carl, Albert, Reuben, Lucille, Elroy and Lavern, at home.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mrs. Theresa Hoage, Mrs. Nina Osley, Mrs. Elsie Stelzer, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Olson, Albert Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Math Anderson, all of Melrose, Wis., Mabel Gkoy of Mendoro, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Gaylon Jennings and Eren Anderson of Black River Falls, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Anderson of Ethrich, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Dan Zeilsdorf of Glenwood City, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Zeilsdorf of Boysville, Wis., Rufus Stowe, Glenn Stowe and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Raatz and daughters of Unity.

*** Note: In the original article, it stated that Mr. Gottschalk was born in 1890, but if you calculate his age at the time of death, he would have had to be born in 1889. His cemetery record also states he was born in 1889.
