Alex James Moore

Alex Moore, a resident of Owen for 26 years prior to moving to Aberdeen, Washington, in 1948, was returned here Sunday for burial. He passed away December 6 at a hospital in Aberdeen where he was being treated for uremic poisoning.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock Monday, December 12, at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. The Rev. J. R. Stone, pastor of the Alliance Church, Owen, officiated. Burial was made in the family lot at Riverside cemetery along side of his wife, the former Mertie Will, who died in January, 1946.

Alex was born February 15, 1877, in Columbia County, Wisconsin. The son of John & Ida May (Daggett) Moore. For a number of years he lived at Ladysmith and Ontario, Wisconsin before moving here in 1922. During the 26 years he made his home here he was employed at the John S. Owen saw mill and later at the Master Package Corporation. He served several terms on the common council as First Ward alderman.

Since moving to Washington in 1948 with his son Buford, and daughter-in-law, he has been employed in a veneer mill.

Survivors include two sons, Buford of Aberdeen, Wash. and Edward of Milwaukee; one brother Warren, of Sacramento, Calif., three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
