Leffel, Louisa (6 Sept. 1861 - 27 Feb. 1948)

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Louisa Leffel of Unity, age 36, who died as a result of a heart ailment at 11:15 p.m. Friday at the home of her son, Herman Leffel. Rev. O. Hoffmann of Colby officiated at the 1:00 o’clock services at the Herman Leffel home, where the body had been lying in state, and at the 2:00 o’clock services at the Immanuel Lutheran church at March Rapids. Internment was made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Leffel, nee Smith, was born Sept. 6, 1861, in Germany where she was educated and where she was married in 1881 to Fred Leffel who died in 1900. She came to the United States when she was 28 years of age with her husband and their two children and engaged in farming at March Rapids until his death in 1900. She lived at Unity since 1918 with the exception of a few years spent in Sheboygan.

Surviving are a daughter and three sons - Mrs. Albert (Lilli) Ewert of March Rapids, Herman Leffel of Unity, Albert Leffel of Ely, Minn., and Ernest Leffel of Marshfield. Also a sister and two half-brothers - Mrs. Bertha Engelman of Tomahawk, Ernest Radtke of Tampa, Fla., and Albert Radtke of March Rapids. There are 26 grand children and 30 great grand children. Three children preceded her in death.
