Schorer, William (1885 - 1 Nov. 1948)

William Schorer of Colby died at the age of 64 years at the Wisconsin General Hospital at Madison Monday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock where he had undergone an operation for a malignant brain tumor. He had been in the hospital 11 days. The body is lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and at the First Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. Franz Paul Puhlmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

The deceased was born in West Virginia and moved with his parents at the age of six years to Herman, Sheboygan county, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Agnes Voelker at Spencer, Wis., on May 15, 1912. He worked as a cheesemaker in various factories in Clark and Marathon counties for 18 years and then for 25 years operated the Hugo Frome farm in the town of Hull, Wisconsin. He and his family moved to Colby this summer.

Surviving are his wife and ten children - Mrs. Ernest (Alice) Gottschalk of Wausau, Wis., Mrs. Albert (Hilda) Genett of Spencer, Mrs. Laurence (Nellie) Tlusty of Medford, Mrs. Burdett (Virginia) McNaul of Chili, Verland Schorer of Loyal, Mrs. Robert (Myrtle) Buning of Fenton, Mich., Mrs. Arthur (Stella) Burechert of Colby, Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Ohlinger of Colby and Grace and William, Jr., at home. Also three brothers and four sisters - Rudolph of Millersville, Fred of Sheboygan, Louie of Abbotsford, Mrs. Otto Lemke of Milwaukee, Mrs. Fred Klein of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Christ Schultz of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Emil Goltz of Sheboygan. There are 17 grand children. One sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services for William H. Schorer, whose death was chronicled last week, were held at the First Evangelical and Reformed church on Friday afternoon, Rev. Franz P. Puhlmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Roland, Fred and Elmer Schorer and Raymond, Alvin and Reinhold Werner. Flowers were in charge of Betty Mae Gottschalk, Goldie Belle Genett, Doris Oehmichen and Joanne, Iris and Barbara Voelker.
