Lindau, Eugene (11 April 1926 - 13 May 1998)

EUGENE LINDAU

ABBOTSFORD--Eugene M. "Gene" Lindau, 72, Waterford, formerly of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, died May 13, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford with the Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiating. Burial was in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery with military rites provided by the Colby VFW Post 2227.

Visitation was from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Eugene Lindau was born April 11, 1926, in Dorchester, the son of Albert and Amanda (Laack) Lindau. He attended Dorchester schools. Gene served in the 36th Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. On August 14, 1948, the former Etola Schaefer and Gene were united in marriage at Green Grove.

The Lindau family has resided in Waterford since 1968, where Gene retired from the Waterford Bank as CEO, president and major stockholder. He also served on the Waterford High School Scholarship Comnmittee.

Gene will be sadly missed by his loving wife Etola Lindau of Waterford; three sons, David (Candice) Lindau of Jacksonville, Fla., Jeffery Lindau of Waterford and Barry (Cyndy) Lindau of Waterford; his daughter Deborah Lindau of Waterford; two sisters, Lucille Daellenbach and Arletta (Robert) Goldhamer, both of Abbotsford; his brother Melvin Lindau of Waupaca; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers-in-law, Norman (Dorothy) Schaefer of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and Charles Schaefer and friend Rose of Davenport, Iowa; and his sisters-in-law, Rowene (James) Steffen of Abbotsford, Marleen Lindau of Medford and Shirley Lindau of Rice Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Norman and Alvin Lindau; and his sister Vernetta Lindau.

Memorials may be given to the Waterford High School Scholarship Fund or to the Waterford Rescue Squad.
