Lindau, Arnold (Oct. 22, 1915 - Nov. 25, 2002)

ARNOLD LINDAU

DORCHESTER--Arnold G. "Slim" Lindau, 87, Dorchester, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2002, at the Memorial Health Center in Medford. He had previously resided at Deer View Meadows in Medford for the past seven months.

Funeral services for Arnold will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Father James Schaefer will officiate and burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester, Wisconsin. There will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Arnold Gustave Lindau was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Dorchester, the son of Fred and Anna (Schrader) Lindau. He and Irene Chojnacki were united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1947, in Medford. The young couple farmed in the town of Mayville until retiring in 1976 from dairy farming but continued crop farming until ill heatlth prevailed.

Lovingly known as "Slim", he was leader of Slim's Little Dance Band and played the accordion for area festivities and local establishments. He was employed at Sauters Feed Mill for many years and also served as custodian at St. Louis Catholic School in Dorchester, Wisconsin. Slim was also a lover of the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing and harvesting his garden.

He will be dearly missed by his family; two sons, Todd (Donna) Lindow of Westboro and Tom (Alice) Lindau of Dorchester; and raised Tony (Sandy) Chojnacki of Black River Falls and Jim Kwasny (Lana) of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, Katie and Erin Lindau, Amanda, Megan and Melinda Peterson and seven extended family grandchildren; and his sister, Olga Egget of Wisconsin Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Marie Lindau on Nov. 10, 2001; five brothers, Albert, Henry, George, William, and Fred Lindau; and four sisters, Amanda Moore, Doris Gosse, Mary Habech and Alvina Beisner.
