He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. His first marriage was to Lorraine Maslowski in 1976 and they later divorced. In 2003, he and the former Kathy Foley were married in Neillsville. He had been employed with Marawood-Braun for 27 years and then three years with Braun Concrete & Excavation and retired because of ill health. A great outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Loyal American Legion.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy, Loyal; his children, Jessica (fiancé Landon Kramer) Krug, Lucas Krug, Eau Claire, and Robert Dewaid, Colby; his step-children, Darcy Tetzlaff, Portland, Ore., and Andrew Tetzlaff, with the U.S. Navy, stationed in Fort Worth, Texas; his sisters, Kathleen "Kitty" (Mike) Tomazak, Curtiss, and Christine (Gary) Fritz, Owen; his brothers, Mark (Mellisa) Krug, Greenwood, Michael Krug, Greenwood; and Rick (Sandy) Krug, Stratford; his grandson, Cole Kramer; his father and Mother-in-law, Stanley and Dorothy Foley, Withee; two brothers-in-law, Brian (Gerri) Foley, Fall Brook, Calif., and John (Ethel) Foley, Wisconsin Rapids; and his lifetime friend and buddy, Fred Letvinuck, Greenwood.

May the road rise to meet you…

May the wind be at your back…

May the sun shine warm upon your face…

May the rain fall gently upon your field…

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
