Dommer, Leona (Marriage - 3 Jan. 1953)

Miss Leona Dommer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dommer, and Joseph Fechhelm, son of Mrs. Mary Fechhelm of Unity, were united in marriage in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby Saturday, Jan. 3, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating at the ceremony. Mrs. Clarence Peterson of Chicago, the groom’s sister, was matron of honor and Mrs. Delphin Dommer, a sister-in-law of the bride, was bridesmaid. Clarence Peterson of Chicago was best man and Delphin Dommer, a brother of the bride, was groomsman.

A net yoke detailed the lace bodice of the entrained satin gown worn by the bride. She also had her sister-in-law’s lace trimmed veil which was embroidered with rhinestones. Carnations and red and white roses, tied with white ribbons, composed her bridal bouquet.

Light blue and green taffeta formals with net yokes, respectively, were worn by the two attendants. Ruffled net headpieces and gauntlets completed their ensembles and each carried a colonial bouquet of carnations.

Mothers of both the bride and groom were attired in dark green dresses and each had a corsage of pink and white carnations.

A dinner was served to immediate relatives. Following the supper, a reception was held. A large wedding bell hung over the table and blue, green and white streamers decorated the room.

Guests at the wedding were from Colby, Unity, Loyal, Granton, and Chicago.

The couple will make their home on the groom’s farm near Unity, Wis.
