Munson, Marjorie June (Marriage - 12 June 1954)

Miss Marjorie June Munson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Munson of Curtiss, and George Allan Klongland, Jr., of Madison, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Klongland, Sr., of Cottage Grove, exchanged marriage vows in St. Paul’s Lutheran church at Green Grove, Wisconsin, Saturday afternoon, June 12, Rev. William Grafe reading the marriage ceremony. B. L. Munson of St. Paul, Minn., sang two songs, "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Jack McCorrison of Curtiss at the organ.

The bride’s white embroidered nylon net-over-satin gown featured long sleeves and the net yoke was accented by a scalloped sweetheart neckline and a high stand-up collar. The full gathered skirt was ankle-length. Her finger-tip veil extended from a white satin head band. A purple orchid surrounded by white roses and stephanotis formed her bouquet.

As her sister’s maid of honor, Miss Barbara Munson of Curtiss served in a lavender ballerina-length, net-over-satin formal and she carried a colonial bouquet of yellow roses. The groom’s sister, Miss Laureen Klongland of Cottage Grove, was bridesmaid. Her gown and flowers were similar to the maid of honor’s. Miss Carol Munson, sister of the bride, wearing a white net-over-satin and carrying a bouquet of yellow roses served as junior bridesmaid.

Norman Nelson of Homewood, Ill., was best man and Orville Rudd of Chicago, Ill., cousin of the bride, was groomsman. David Munson, the bride’s brother, was ringbearer.

Following the ceremony and reception covers were laid for 150 guests in the church parlors. In the evening a dance was held at Colby Park Pavilion.

Mrs. Munson viewed her daughter’s wedding attired in a misty rose suit accented by navy accessories and the groom’s mother wore a navy blue gown with white accessories. Gardenia corsages completed their ensembles.

The new Mrs. Klongland is a graduate of Owen High School and her husband, who served in the Army for two and one-half years, graduated from Stoughton High School. They both attended the University of Wisconsin, at Madison, where they will make their home after a honeymoon in southern Wisconsin.
