Freedy, Sarah O. (29 NOV 1855 - 29 MAY 1941)

Mrs. M.L. Freedy, 85, a former resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the Luther Hospital at Eau Claire on Thursday morning, May 29, 1941, after a short illness. She had been residing with her sister, Mrs. Chas. Chamberlain, at Eau Claire for a number of years.

Sarah Arletta Craig was born n Plainfield, Wis., on Nov. 29, 1855. She was united in marriage there in 1875 to Moses L. Freedy who preceded her in death in 1914. She resided in Colby, Wisconsin for several years after marriage and came to Thorp fifty-six years ago. This was her home until the death of her husband, and her interest in Thorp and her many friends here never waned during the years of her absence.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Cora L. Palms of Atascadero, Calif., who arrived too late to see her mother alive, one son, Gordon Freedy of Milwaukee, two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Chamberlain of Eau Claire and Mrs. Geo. Alger of Thorp, two brothers, Albert Craig of Cornell and Norman of Thorp.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eau Claire, the pastor of which, Rev. M.R. Siemens, conducted funeral services at two o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Eau Claire Funeral Home for the deceased.

The body was brought to Thorp for burial in the East Thorp Cemetery beside her husband.

Loving and kind in all her ways,

Upright and just to the end of her days;

Sincere and True in heart and mind,

Beautiful memories she left behind.
