Stettler, Marie (21 Apr. 1892 - 30 Jan. 1954)

Mrs. Victor Stettler died at 10:30 P.M. at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital Saturday, Jan. 30, at the age of 61 years, her death being due to a stroke which she suffered last week Wednesday. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Neil Sheets of Marshfield, Vincent Kammueller of Fountain City, Lester Plank of Cochrane, Andrew Stettler of Fountain City, Adam Fitzel and Melvin Duvall of Colby, Wis. Mrs. Hubert Munson, accompanied by Miss Rena Bauer on the organ, sang, "In The Garden" and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord."

Marie Hunger was born on April 21, 1892, in the town of Milton, Buffalo county. She married Victor Stettler in Winona, Minn., on Nov. 27, 1919. They lived in the town of Hull and engaged in farming until 1952 when they moved to the city of Colby, Wis.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. George (Loretta) Weller of Colby; two sons, John Stettler, of the town of Hull and Lawrence, at home; five sisters, Mrs. Henry Herald and Mrs. Emma Halbrugger of Fountain City, Mrs. Edward Plank of Cochrane, Mrs. Felix Hainzlsperger of Colby and Mrs. Sophie Balsing of Alma; two brothers, William Hunger of Winona, Minn., and Felix Hunger of Arcadia; two grand children, Richard and Eileen Weller. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Three children died in infancy.

Being of a kind and friendly disposition, Mrs. Stettler had many friends in this community who will always remember her for her fine Christian character and as one who always endeavored to perform her duties honestly and well.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Kingsley of Elalaka, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. William Hunger, Ervin Hunger, Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Stettler and Mr. and Mrs. Max Stettler of Winona, Minn., Mrs. Irvin Accola of Mondovi, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Plank, Mrs. Ed Plank and Alfred Engel of Cochrane, Mrs. Ernest Halbuegger, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Kammueller, Mrs. Henry Herald, Mrs. Anna Engel, Andrew Stettler, Ernest Stettler, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ratz and Mr. and Mrs. George Plank of Fountain City, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Stettler, Mrs. Herman Blasing and Mrs. John Brandt of Alma, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stettler and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Sherts of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lawcewicz and family of Fond du Lac, Elsie Weller of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hensler and Mrs. Art Schuette of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffmann of Stratford, Eugene Laurent and a group of student teachers from Taylor County Normal School of Medford.
