Weddig, Lea Mae (Marriage - 25 June 1955)

After July 4th, the new Mr. and Mrs. James Blanchard will be at home to friends in Colby, Wis. The Blanchards were married Saturday morning, June 25th, prior to a 9:00 nuptial high mass at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis. Miss Lea Mae Weddig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weddig, was given in marriage to James Blanchard, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Blanchard of Colby, by her father.

Chantilly lace over bridal satin made up her princess style ballerina length dress. The bodice had a scalloped neckline and cap sleeves. Her waist length veil of nylon tulle was secured to a lace headpiece outlined with seed pearls. Her bouquet had a white carnation center with red carnations outlining.

Miss Ruth Blanchard of Colby was maid of honor. She wore a strapless ballerina length dress of nylon net over satin. Her jacket was of matching white nylon net. Also white shoes and a dainty crown of white net and daisies for her head went into the making of her attire. Miss Patricia Blanchard of Colby, the bridesmaid, was gowned identically as the maid of honor. Both attendants carried white lace bow shaped bouquets of white and yellow pompom mums.

The two groom’s attendants were LaNile Packard of Colby as best man and Donald Kaiser of Colby as groomsman. Ushers at the church were Lawrence Allmann, Jr., and Edward Allmann, both of Colby, Wis.

The bride’s mother wore a navy blue lace dress and white accessories for her daughter’s wedding. Her corsage consisted of white carnations. The groom’s mother wore a powder blue dress of silk organza with white accessories. White carnations made up her corsage.

During the service, Mrs. A. Gabriel played the organ and sang "Ave Maria."

A reception was held in St. Mary’s gymnasium following the ceremony.

When the bride left for the honeymoon in Northern Wisconsin, she was wearing a princess style white and lilac dress with a lilac matching jacket. She wore the white carnations from her bridal bouquet as her corsage.
