Marsh, Joan Marie (Marriage - 5 Nov. 1949)

Miss Joan Marie Marsh of Milwaukee, daughter of Norman Marsh of Colby and Mrs. Helen Marsh of Milwaukee, Wis., became the bride of Kenneth G. Groenke, son of Russell F. Groenke of Racine, on Nov. 5th at 2:30 P.M. at the First Ev. Lutheran parsonage with Rev. Volkert officiating. The couple was attended by Miss Doris Lindell of Milwaukee, a college classmate of the bride, and Glenn Groenke, brother of the groom.

The bride was gowned in white satin fashioned with a shawl collar, cuffer, capped sleeves and small covered buttons from neckline to hem. Her elbow-length veil of tulle was edged with wide lace and was held in place by a Juliet cap trimmed with small pearls. She wore elbow-length satin nylon gloves and white satin slippers and carried a colonial bouquet of white mums and white roses.

The maid of honor wore a teal satin gown styled identically to that of the bride, with wrist-length white gloves, silver slippers, and carried a bouquet of pink roses and white mums.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kreger in Milwaukee, with 100 relatives and friends in attendance.

Navy blue crepe was worn by the bride’s grandmothers, Mrs. Nora Mantor, of Abbotsford, and Mrs. Raymond Marsh, of Colby, wore corsages of pink rosebuds tied with silver.

The groom attended Kent University in Ohio, and the bride is a graduate of Colby High School and Layton Art School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are residing at 1122 1-4 Blake avenue, Racine, after their return from a wedding trip to Sturgeon Bay, Minneapolis and Colby, Wis.
