Larson, Olivia (29 JUL 1856 - 13 NOV 1942)

Mrs. Hjalmar Larson, 86, died at the Stanley Hospital on Friday, Nov. 13, 1942, after a long illness. She fell and broke her hip on April 1st, 1942, and failed rapidly since that time. She was a resident of this community (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) for the past forty-eight years. Mr. Larson passed away in December 1940.

Olivia Beckman was born in Gutland, Sweden, on July 29, 1856. She came to America in 1891 and resided for about two years in Omaha, Neb. She was married to Hjalmar Larson in Thorp in September 1893, and this has since been her home. The Larson’s were numbers among the pioneers of Thorp and were hard working tillers of the soil.

Surviving her are two sons, Victor of Port Edwards, Wis., and Walter of Bloomer, Wis., and one daughter, Ella of Thorp; also eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One son, Harry, died in 1936.

Funeral services were conducted at the Thorp Funeral Home by Rev. Urshon of the Apostolic Church of Stanley, on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. The body was laid to rest in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Anton Gulczynski, Isaac Sisco, Frank Smitke, Mike Kronberg, Wm. Glasshof and Alfred Burkhardt.
