Frome, Henry (11 Nov. 1866 - 4 Feb. 1949)

Henry Frome, Sr., died at the nurses’ home in Greenwood, where he had been a patient 20 days, Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, old age complications being the cause of his departure. The body had been lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home until Tuesday afternoon where funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran church in Colby, Wis., Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Edwin Frome Jr., James Arschambo, Glenn Frome, Gordon Mellenthin, Rueben Frome and William Frome.

Henry Frome was born in Hancock, Michigan on November 11, 1866, thus reaching the age of 82 years. He came to this community when a young man and married Marie Greske on July 1, 1903, in Colby, Wis. They lived on a farm in the town of Colby until about six years ago when they retired from farm life and moved to Abbotsford, Wis. Mrs. Frome died in March, 1945, and for the past year, Mr. Frome made his home with his son, Edwin.

Surviving are five sons and one daughter - Edwin, Theodore and Wallace of Colby, Orvin and Henry, Jr., of Milwaukee and Mrs. John (Meta) Draeger of Venice, Calif. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters - Louis and Hugo of Colby, Charles of Manitowoc, Mrs. A. M. Steinwand and Mrs. John Tesmer of Colby, Wis. There are nine grand children and six great grand children.

The deceased was well known in Colby, Wisconsin for his industrious and congenial disposition, so characteristic of the early pioneer. He was town chairman of the town of Colby for several years.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Orvin and Henry Frome of Milwaukee, Mrs. Tony Hertz of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. James Archambo of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Frome and Gordon Mellenthin of Unity, Mrs. Clarence Gosse and Mr. and Mrs. August Scheuler of Abbotsford, Wis.
