Barager, Alberta (Marriage - 2 SEP 1941)

Colored gladioli - in the cascade bouquets of the maid of honor and bridesmaid with matching flowers in their hair - was the only color accent in the white wedding of Miss Alberta Barager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Barager, and Charles Wood, Joliet, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wood of Eau Claire, at St. Katherine’s Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon. The service was read by Rev. R. E. Ortmayer.

In a gown of white taffeta, the bridesmaid, Miss Mary Wood, led the bridal procession down the aisles. Miss Joyce Barager, her sister’s maid of honor, also wore white.

James Barager attended the groom as best man, Franklin Wood of Chicago, Ill., and John Barager were the ushers.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk jersey, and a finger tip veil; she carried gardenias and stephanotes set on the wedding fan which was carried by her grandmother Barager in 1886. She wore a necklace of pearls, a gift of the groom.

Preceding the ceremony Miss Molly Griebenow sang, "Oh Promise Me," and during the ceremony sang, "Because." Miss Lorraine Graham accompanied her at the organ.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception for the immediate families was held at the home of the bride.

Mr. Wood and his bride left in Mr. Wood’s plane on a wedding trip, and will live in Lockport, Ill., on their return.
