Patrie, Clifford H. (19 DEC 1876 - 4 DEC 1942)

Clifford H. Patrie, 65, who for the past four years has been making his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Wing, 204 South Cherry St., Marshfield, Wisconsin, died at 4:10 o’clock Friday morning at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where he had been patient since November 28. Death was due to a complication of ailments.

The body lay in state at the Seehafer-Hansen Funeral Home in Marshfield until 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, after which it was brought to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where it lay in state at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin). A rosary service was conducted Sunday evening at eight o’clock.

A Requiem High Mass was read Monday morning at 10 o’clock at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Rev. Francis J. Brockman officiating. Burial taking place in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. The pallbearers were: E.W. Kidd, W.J. Mahoney, Myron Duncan of Owen, Ross Lawrence, Thorp, O.J. Weyhmiller and Ed Kutchera, Neillsville. Honorary pallbearers were: Judge E.W. Crosby, Neillsville, Wm. Fordyce, Marshfield, Ivar Anderson, Eau Claire, Harvey Weddig, Henry B. Mauel, Vandi Shereda, L.W. Cattanach, V.P. Barager and George Krom.

Mr. Patrie was born in Quebec, Canada, Dec. 19, 1876, and was married at Eau Claire, Oct. 8, 1904, to esther Ann Tufts, who preceded him in death July 8, 1938. Mr. Patrie, who came to the United States when he was six years old, had been manager of the Woodland Hotel at Owen for 28 years.

A member of the Holy Name Society and the Knight of Pythias, Mr. Patrie is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. John Benjamin (Alice) Wing, Marshfield; one grandson, John Franklin Wing; and by seven sisters and a brother, Mrs. John Riley, Laguna Beach, Calif.; Mrs. P.L. Johannes, Colfax; Mrs. Otto Lund, Mrs. Leonard Faulknor, and Fred Patrie, all of Eau Claire; Mrs. Emmos Wolfe, Cheshire, Conn.; Mrs. James Hartigan, Little Falls, N.J.; and Mrs. Angus MacMaster, Brooklyn, N.Y.
