O’Rourke, Mary Agnes (Marriage - 13 SEP 1941)

A very pretty late summer wedding took place at St. Jerome’s church, Columbus, on Saturday, Sept. 13, when Miss Mary Agnes O’Rourke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank O’Rourke became the bride of Albert Schroeder of Detroit, Mich. Rev. Thomas Myles officiated at the Nuptial High Mass.

Preceding the ceremony "O Promise Me" was sung by Ed Reinert and during the mass he sang the Ave Marie by Rosewig. The wedding party entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march. At the Communion, Mrs. Marie Ziegler sang "Side By Side We’re Kneeling."

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father wore an ivory satin gown fashioned with a long train and veil caught with orange blossoms. She carried Easter lilies and a pearl rosary, a gift of the groom.

Her attendants, Miss Genevieve Duffy as maid of honor and Mrs. Alma Scheel, sister of the groom as bridesmaid wore identical gowns of peach chiffon with satin bodice and head dresses of fuschia ostrich plumes attached to lengthy velvet ribbons to match. The carried bouquets of asters, gladioli and pom poms.

The bride’s four brothers assisted at the ceremony, Francis as best man, William as attendant, John as usher, and Bob as acolyte. Robert Scheel, nephew of the groom, was also an usher.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. O’Rourke was dressed in a navy blue ensemble and wore a corsage of gardenias.

A wedding breakfast was served at the Hotel Rogers, Beaver Dam, to the bridal party and immediate relatives, after which a reception was held at the bride’s home.

Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder left on a trip to California and points of interests in the west. For traveling she wore a brown tweed suit with brown accessories.

The bride, a graduate of Columbus high school and Columbia County Normal has been a teacher in Dodge county.

The groom has been employed at Detroit where the couple will be at home after the first of November.
