Nysted, Pearl (21 JUN 1941)

Decorated for the occasion with beautiful flowers and banks of palms, Joyce Memorial Methodist Church in Chicago was the fitting scene of the wedding of Miss Pearl Nysted, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nysted, Loyal, to Lester J. McDermott, Chicago, at 7 o’clock Saturday Evening, June 21. The marriage rites were read by the Rev. Truman Carl, pastor of the church, and Mrs. George Fick sang, "Because", and "At Dawning".

The bride, preceded by her attendants, approached the altar with her father, who was to give her in marriage, and was there met by the groom and his attendants. She was lovely in a gown of white satin made with a long train, a sweetheart neckline edged with pearls, full length sleeves puffed at the shoulders, and the back closed to the waistline with tiny buttons. She wore a long veil and blusher which were held by a tiara of orange blossoms. White roses and stephanotis composed her bouquet.

Miss Violet Nysted, sister of the bride and her maid of honor, was attired in a pink chiffon gown trimmed with lace while the bridesmaids, Miss Dorothy Miller and LaVern Rice, a cousin of the groom, wore blue chiffon gowns also trimmed in lace. Each of the three attendants of the bride carried a bouquet of pink roses and delphiniums, each wore a sweetheart hat, and each wore a gold cross, their gift from the bride. Four year old Myrna Lundberg, the flower girl, wore a dress of blue net.

The three attendants of the groom were his best man, Irvin Mills, and George McDermott, his cousin, and Stanley Lundberg.

The bride’s mother wore a floor length gown of blue silk and the groom’s mother wore dusty rose chiffon in floor length. Both wore corsages of white carnations.

Seventy-five guests attended the buffet supper served at the home of the groom following the ceremony. The home was beautiful with streamers in pastel colors, small Japanese lanterns, wedding bells and flowers, while a huge wedding cake appropriately decorated centered the table.

Mrs. McDermott is a graduate of the Loyal High School. She has been employed in the regional office of Montgomery Ward & Company in Chicago for 2 ½ years. Mr. McDermott is a graduate of Austin High School, Chicago, and completed his education at Northwestern University. He is a sales representative.

The bridal couple left for a week’s stay at Eagle River and will stop at the home of the bride’s parents on their return. They will take an apartment in Chicago where they plan to reside.

The best wishes of the Loyal Tribune are added to those of their many friends.
