Otto, Laverna (5 JUL 1941)

The Local Trinity Lutheran Church decorated with garden flowers, was the scene of the wedding of Miss LaVerna Otto and Mr. Orvin Litka, Saturday, July 5, at 4 P. M.

The bride entered with her brother, Paul Otto, who because of a recent serious accident to their father, was to give the bride in marriage. The bridal party was met at the altar by the groom and his best man, his brother, Rueben Litka. Following this part of the service Paul Otto served as one of the groom’s attendants. Others of the bridal procession were the bride’s sister, Mavis Otto, who was her maid of honor, and her sister-in-law Mrs. Paul Otto and Marie Kadolph who were her bride’s maids; Marvin Seeman, an attendant of the groom; Delores Pieper, the bride’s niece, who was flower girl; and Duane Komis, nephew of the groom, who was ring bearer.

The bride wore a gown of white silk Marquisette with velvet brocaded flowers interwoven. Her dress was made with a long train, leg o’ mutton sleeves, and the back was buttoned to the waistline. She wore a long veil and blusher which were held in cap effect by seed pearls. She wore a white necklace and carried an arm bouquet of white lilies and ferns. Miss Otto wore blue organdie trimmed in lace and pink ribbon. Mrs. Otto’s gown was of peach colored mousseline, and Miss Kadolph wore yellow sparkleray organdie trimmed in green. The bride’s attendants each wore a veil and shoulder bouquets of mixed flowers. They also wore necklaces which matched their gowns in color. These necklaces were gifts from the bride. The flower girl wore a dress of floor length pink organdie trimmed in blue and carried a basket of mixed flowers. The ring bearer wore a white suit and carried a white satin pillow which held the rings to be used in the double ring ceremony. The groom and his attendants wore teal blue suits, brown oxfords and rust colored ties. The bride’s mother wore a dress of green and white print and the groom’s mother wore blue and white print. Both wore bouquets of mixed flowers.

The ushers were Beverly Pieper, the bride’s niece and Valeria Bauer, the groom’s niece.

The rev. J. C. Langholz, pastor of the church, read the marriage ceremony and preached the wedding sermon. Mrs. Geo. Jensen played the wedding march from Lohengrin and accompanied Mrs. Romaine Rossow who sang "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly".

Supper was served by the bride’s parents in the church parlors to over 100 guests. The room was decorated with flowers and streamers in colors that corresponded with the gowns of the bride and her attendants. A large wedding bell extended from the ceiling and a wedding cake centered the table of the wedding party.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Otto, Loyal, and has been employed in her home neighborhood. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Litka, Loyal, and is employed at the Pleasant View Dairy. They will make their home for the present with the bride’s parents.

A pre nuptial shower was given the bride at Riplinger. Many nice gifts were received.

A wedding dance was given at the Country Ball Room the evening of the wedding.

Those from away who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Otto, Mr. and Mrs. John Fina, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Otto, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Otto and son Richard, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Fina, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wolfe and son Terry, Mrs. Fred Paddon and son Freddie, Mr. and Mrs. George Hetzel, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lemke, Milwaukee; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Koepke and son Paul, Jr., Kohler.
