Clara E. Schaefer

Dorchester, Wis. -- Clara E. Schaefer, 84, of Medford, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Memorial Nursing Home of Medford under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester with the Rev. Robert L. Everhard officiating. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Clara was born Jan 30, 1924, in Cresco, Iowa, to Edwin and Anna (Grabo) Albers. She attended grade school in Burr Oak township in Winneshiek County, Iowa, until the eighth grade. After that her family moved from Iowa to Taylor County, where Clara became employed by Hurd Windows of Medford, where she worked for many years. She married Louis Schaefer in Dorchester, Wis. After marriage, Clara was a homemaker and raised her family. Clara and Louis were married for 50 years. Louis passed away in 1999.

She loved to go for walks with her family and well as go shining deer with her children. Clara was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester

Clara is survived by her children, Carol, Lorin, Clyde Schaefer, all of Medford, and Larry Schaefer of California; and two brothers, Richard (Darlene) Albers and Donald (Donna) Albers, all of Medford.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1999. Maurina/Schilling Funeral Home of Dorchester is assisting the family with the arrangements.
