Local Happenings in Colby and Vicinity - Nov. 30, 1950

Arnold Rannow underwent an operation at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital.

Mrs. Amelia Amundson is visiting at the Lloyd Amundson home in King, Wis.

Mrs. Verna Riplinger spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Milwaukee with relatives.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Feind at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital November 21.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Walter and children left last week Wednesday for a month’s visit in Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold McKernon spent Thanksgiving Day and Friday at Elmwood and Hudson with relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wieland of Unity were dinner guests at the Victor Dallman home at Colby Thanksgiving Day.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gries of Sheboygan spent the week-end with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gries.

Wm. C. Pacholke and Wm. F. Pacholke of Osceola were home over the week-end and left again Monday morning for Osceola.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Roth of Chicago spent the Thanksgiving week-end with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Roth.

Clarence Nelsen, Jr., attending television school in Chicago, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Nelsen.

Miss Norma Engeldinger of Milwaukee spent the Thanksgiving week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Engeldinger.

David Loos, attending the University at Madison, spent the Thanksgiving week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Loos.

Allen Dins, attending University Extension School at Wausau, spent the Thanksgiving holiday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dins.

Mr. and Mrs. James E. Umhoefer and family of Janesville spent Thanksgiving Day with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. X. Umhoefer.

Norman Orth of Washington, D.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Orth and children of Toluca, Ill., spent Thanksgiving week-end with the men’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Orth.

Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay and daughter, Mary Louise, took his mother, Mrs. Mary Lindsay, to the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed O’Connor, near Reedsburg, Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Arland Stall, formerly of Cherokee, now residing at Orfordville, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Schelling. Mr. Stall spent part of the time hunting deer in Northern Wisconsin.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Frook and children of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Gertrude Pudlas and children and Mr. and Mrs. Hundertmark of Forreston, Ill., spent Thanksgiving Day with the ladies’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Orth.

A family gathering was held on Thanksgiving Day at the Frank Budde home. Those present were Lester Burmeister of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Johnson of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ringquist of Spencer and Mr. and Mrs. Gust Ringquist of Unity.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sossaman and son, Terry, of Milwaukee spent the Thanksgiving week-end with Mrs. Sossaman’s mother, Mrs. Arma Schultz, and the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Sossaman. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Schultz accompanied them on their return to Milwaukee where Mr. Schultz will seek employment.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Smith and daughter of Fairfax, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Smith and children of Eau Claire spent Thanksgiving Day with their parents, Rev. and Mrs. F. J. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Smith of Rennville, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Merril Wilcox of Minong, who had planned on attending the annual Thanksgiving reunion, were unable to do so because of inclement weather and icy roads.
