Hansen, Elisabeth (3 NOV 1876 - 5 SEP 1943)

Mrs. Fred J. Hansen died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1943, at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, following a lingering illness, at the age of 67 years, and funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin), the Rev. Bundgaard, pastor of the Danish Lutheran Church of Withee officiating.

She was born Nov. 3, 1876 at Langholm, Denmark, and came to this country at the age of twenty-one. One year later she was united in marriage on May 18, 1898, at Ashland, Wis., where she and her husband resided for seven years before moving to Colby, Wis. After residing there for six years, she and her husband moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) where she has since made her home, her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1936. She was a charter member of the Danish Sisterhood Lodge of Withee, and its first president.

She leaves to mourn, four sons, Emil of Owen, Cpl. Wesley M. Hansen of Portsmouth, N.H., Walter D. Hansen, Cambria, and Raymond A. Hansen, U.S.N., and two daughters, Mrs. M.E. Eggers, Ventura, Calif., and Mrs. Eino Backa, Milwaukee, one brother residing in California, also five granddaughters, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

Those from away here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Eino Backa, Milwaukee, Walter D. Hansen, Cambria, Mrs. Archie Roohr and daughter, Sandra, Appleton, Mrs. William Panzer, Eau Claire, and Miss Beulah Hansen, Chicago.
