My Father and Grandfather spelled thier last name Koboski until changing it in the early 40's to Kubacki. Don't know why. My Grandfather was John Koboski (maybe a Jr.?) Born in Fairchild, WI., in 1888. He found one of his brothers living in St Paul MN in the 50's, I think his name was Joe. Got a Certificate of Baptism from St John Cantins Church, Fairchild, Wis. Says born 10 Mar 1888, Baptized 2 Apr 1888, child of Joseph Kubacki and Josepha, nie Karczyk, its a Roman Catholic Church, looks like by Rev. Aug. Babinski. Sponsors; Michael Kubacki and Frances Lorek or Lovek. This from the church register dtd june 12, 1942. Maybe it was after receiving this copy they changed their name from Koboski to Kubacki. My Grandfather John's brother from St Paul spelled his last name different, more like the Koboski spelling. John married Anna Szarflarski or Rekucka. Family Bible has names like: Joe & Jo Stackewicz, Milw, Art Kruger, Meshboro, Wis, Lloyd Cuddebach, Rib Lake, Stanley Szarflarski, Rib Lake. They (John & Anna) spelled it Koboski for the census of the 30's, Hennepin County (Mpls) MN, listed with thier children Casmir & Theodore, Theodore was my Father.
