Bahn, Meta (2 Sept. 1898 - 31 Dec. 1950)

Mrs. Walter Bahn, a former resident of the Colby community, died Sunday at Lake Geneva where funeral services were held Tuesday. The body was then brought to Colby and funeral rites will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the Lulloff Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bahn, the former Meta Schoelzel, is a daughter of Mrs. August Schoelzel of Colby and was a resident of the town of Colby before moving to Lake Geneva.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Bahn, the former Meta Schoelzel, whose death was chronicled last week, were held at the First Ev. and Reformed church Thursday, Jan. 4, Rev. Franz Paul Puhlmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Alvin Woik, Fred Stecker, Hubert Glenzer, Albert Mandel, Will Ebert and Richard Wiegman. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Eddie Wachtendonk, Mrs. John Sheets, Doris, Emarita and Audris Schoelzel.

Mrs. Bahn was born in the town of Colby on Sept. 2nd, 1898. She married Walter Bahn at Green Grove on October 2, 1918. She died in Lake Geneva on December 30, 1950, after a lingering illness, thus reaching the age of 52 years, three months and 28 days.

Surviving are her husband; three children, Mrs. Harry (Berneta) Knickerbocker of Elmira, N.Y., Mrs. John (Geraldine) Schumacher of Eagle, Colo., Chester Bahn of Lake Geneva; her mother, Mrs. Anna Schoelzel of Colby; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Meyer of Colby and Mrs. John Leonhard of Lake Geneva; and one brother, Rudolph Schoelzel of Colby, Wis.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mrs. Harry Knickerbocker and son, Michael, of Elmira, N.Y., Walter Bahn and son, Chester, and Mr. and Mrs. John Leonhard of Lake Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marquardt, Donald Marquardt and Mrs. Ed Kalepp of Athens, Henry Rahn and Edmund Rahn of Neillsville, Rudolph, Jr., and Gerald Schoelzel of Union Grove, Mrs. Eddie Wachtendonk and Doris Schoelzel of Beloit and Mrs. John Sheets of Curtiss. One daughter, Mrs. John Schumacher of Eagle, Colo., was unable to attend.
