Schmelzer, Julius (16 July 1875 - 13 Aug. 1951)

Julius Schmelzer died at the home of his son, Ernest, in the town of Hull Monday, Aug. 13, at 1:00 P.M., a lingering illness of eight months duration being the cause of his departure. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. at the Ernest Schmelzer home and at 2:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mr. Schmelzer was born in Eastern Germany on July 16, 1875, thus reaching the age of 76 years and 13 days. He married Auguste Lenk in Germany on February 10, 1900, to which union five children were born, two of whom died in infancy and one son, William, died in Colby in 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Schmelzer moved to the United States in 1927 to make their home with their son, Ernest.

Surviving besides his widow, are two sons, Fred and Ernest, both of the town of Hull. Also five grand children.

Mr. Schmelzer will be remembered by all who knew him as a kindly gentleman of an industrious and congenial disposition who always endeavored to perform his duties to the best of his ability.
