Ponick, Magdaline (1848 - 5 MAY 1943)

Mrs. Magdaline Ponick, aged 95, passed away at the home of her son, Charles Ponick, Wednesday, May 5, 1943, at 8:00 o’clock of infirmities of old age.

The deceased was born in Poland in 1848. In 1871 Magdaline Piotkewicz was married to Frank Ponik Sr. in Poland, and they immigrated to America and settled in New York. In 1901 they moved to the Stanley country, settling at Junction (Clark Co., Wis.), where that same year her husband passed away.

The deceased braved the hardships of those times to raise her three children who survive here: Charles Ponick, Mrs. Peter (Anne) Witkus of Stanley, and Frank Ponik of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by one daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the Plombon Funeral Home with interment in the Junction Cemetery Saturday at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon, with Brother Mankiewicz conducting the services. The pallbearers were: Fr. Ponik, Charles Ponik, Ben Ponik, Peter Witkus, Louis Witkus and Stanley Wonzad.

The out of town people who attended were: Frank Ponik and daughter Frances, Mrs. Czajkowski, and Stanley Wonzad, all of Milwaukee, John Witkus of River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Luzinski and family of Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Luzinski and son Anton of Lublin, Mrs. Mike Stasko and family of Plover, and Brother and Mrs. Mankiewicz of Stevens Point.
