Konrath, John Joseph (14 August 1895 - 8 November 1968)

John Joseph Konrath, 73, of Neillsville, died Friday at his home. Funeral services were held Monday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church of which he was a member. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. The Rev. George M. Nelson officiated.

Mr. Konrath was born August 14, 1895, in Hubertus and received his education in southern Wisconsin schools. He came to Clark County with his parents, who settled on a farm in the Granton area.

He was a World War I veteran. He worked for the Clark County forestry department for several years and also did farm work. He had moved into Neillsville only about a month ago.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Manthi of Portage, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Figlesthaler of Milwaukee and Mrs. Martin (Adeline) Birchiem of Hankinson, N. D.; two brothers, Paul of De Pere and Herman of Milwaukee; and a niece, Mrs. Allen Crockett of Neillsville.

A general rosary service was read Sunday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Earl Marden, Fred Dux, Frank Bardeleben, Ronnie Meyer, Tom Yndogliato and Leonard Schultz.

People from away attending the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Figlesthaler, Mike Kezel, Jr., and Gilbert Crockett of Milwaukee; Herman Konrath of Marshfield; Paul Konrath and Miss Elanore Konrath of De Pere; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Manthey and Mrs. William Manthey, Jr., of Portage; Mrs. Jean Konrath, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schultz and family of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schmidt of Loyal; and Rita Crockett of Eau Claire.
