Matlak, Loretta M. (14 JUL 1943)

A very lovely wedding took place at the St. Stanislaus Bishop and Marty Church in Chicago, on Wednesday, July 14, 1943 when Miss Loretta Marie Matlak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Matlak of Chicago, became the bride of Pvt. John Joseph Gronek of Medford, Oregon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gronek of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). They were united in marriage by Father Marion Matlak, cousin of the bride.

The bride wore a gown of chiffon on princess lace with a train and a string of pearls. Her head was adorned with a tiara crown of pearls and streamlined veil and she carried a bouquet of gardenias and orchids. She also carried a bouquet of lilies to the Blessed Virgin altar.

Her bridesmaid, Marion Padolski, cousin of the bride, wore a white chiffon floor length dress and a string of pearls. Her bouquet was of gardenias and roses.

The groom wore his uniform. Best man was Frank Gronek, brother of the groom, who wore a tuxedo and boutonniere. The bride’s father led her to the altar and the mother of the groom led the groom to the altar. The mother’s of the bride and groom each wore pink crepe dresses and carried bouquets of gladiolas and roses.

A reception was held at the O?? Hall and a wedding dinner followed. After a short honeymoon trip to Wisconsin, the groom returned Sunday in the Army….(the rest of my copy was unreadable)
