Widmer, Alfred A. #2 (15 JAN 1923 - 22 AUG 1943)

Alfred Alwin Widmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Widmer of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), was born in the town of Withee, Jan. 15, 1923, and died in a fatal accident, Aug. 22, 1943 in Seattle, Wash.

In the summer of 1940 he left for the western harvest fields, and was employed at different jobs, the last being on a ranch in Wyoming, and from there he went to Seattle in Feb. 1941, where he has since been employed. At the time of his death he had begun on full time pay as a Frigidaire apprentice.

He was united in marriage to a girl of Kent, Wash., on Aug. 21, 1943, and only lived one day, which was a great shock to her as related in her sad and heart-broken letter to his parents.

Funeral services were held in Seattle on Aug. 27. Word was received that he was paid high tribute by friends out there.

His body was sent to Owen and funeral services were held from St. John’s Lutheran Church at Withee. He was laid to rest beside his beloved sister who left us just nine months ago.

Pallbearers were: Vernon and Earl Baehr, Raymond Rogalski, John Mikrut, Bernard Buss and Fred Isler.
