Kozenka, Sophie #2 (4 SEP 1943)

Mr. Edward Michur, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Michur of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and Miss Sophie Kozenka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kozenka of Thorp, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony at St. Hedwig’s Church, Thorp, in a ceremony performed by Father Francis Piekarski at 9:00 o’clock Saturday morning, Sept. 4, 1943.

The bride was led to the altar by her father and the groom by his mother.

The bride was beautifully gowned in slipper satin with sweetheart neckline, low waisted, with a gathered celanese skirt. She wore a wide two yard train and laced edged veil with blusher and pearl beaded crown, the bridegroom’s gift. Around her neck she wore a gold heart shaped locket with mother of pearl center and pearl earrings. Her bouquet was of white roses, carnations, gardenias and sweet peas. The bride carried a bouquet of flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary Altar.

Best man was Joe Kozenka, brother of the bride. The bridesmaid was Miss Evelyn, sister of the groom, who was attired in a lace top, low waisted dress with celanese gathered skirt in pink orchid.

Other attending couples were Adam Michur, groom’s brother, and Florence Norysiewicz, cousin of the bride; Stanley Michur, the groom’s brother, and Frances Florkowski; Melvin Bartosiewicz, bride’s cousin, and Sophie Urban. The bridesmaids were dressed in rainbow color gowns and the groom and his attendants in tuxedos with gardenias and carnation boutonnieres. The bridesmaids also wore pearl necklaces, gifts of the bride. Their bouquets were of roses, carnations, sweet peas and gladiolas in rainbow colors.

Both mothers of the bride and groom wore rayon crepe dresses, Mrs. Kozenka of soldier blue and Mrs. Michur of navy blue. Their corsages were of roses and carnations.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the P.N.A. Hall in Thorp throughout the day and evening.

The happy couple will reside on the groom’s farm near Withee.

The following out of towners were guests: George Michur, Miss Stephany Kolodziej, Stanley Karwacki, Miss Wanda Nychels, Miss Margie Bartosiewicz, Miss Frances Staron, Mrs. Henry Nyckels, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Piwoni and family, John Jarocki, Miss Alice Czarnicki, and Miss Mary Zaidel, all of Chicago.
