Wry, Rosa (28 MAY 1898 - 31 OCT 1943)

Mrs. John Wry of the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the Victory Hospital at Stanley on Sunday, Oct. 31, 1943, after a lingering illness.

Rosa Karlen was born in the Town of Thorp on May 28, 1898, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Karlen Sr. She spent her entire life in the vicinity of Thorp and Stanley, and attended the local schools. She was united in marriage to John Wry on June 30, 1929 at Thorp.

She is survived by her husband and two children, one son Lloyd and one daughter, Shirley, of Stanley; her father, Edward Karlen Sr. of Stanley; three brothers, Ernest of Kendallville, Ind., Edward Jr. of Stanley, and Herman of Boyd; one sister, Mrs. Lence Schutz of Boyceville, Wis.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F.H. Sprengler, pastor of the Ev. Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church. The body lay in state at the Thorp funeral Home until that hour. Interment was made in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wm. Krause, Ed Beller, Emil Deutschlander, Karl Brandt, Richard Brandt and Vernon Reppert.
