Papierniak, Irene (27 NOV 1943)

Mr. and Mrs. Luis Papierniak announce the marriage of their daughter, Irene, to Robert Cattanach, 1st Class Petty Officer in the Navy at Newport News, Virginia, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cattanach of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

The wedding took place at Newport News at 5:00 o’clock Saturday, November 27th, 1943, the Rev. Father Campbell of St. Vincent’s Parish performing the ceremony. The couple was attended by Donald Gray, EM 1c and Thelma Gray, his wife.

Irene is a graduate of Thorp High School and Wausau Business Institute. She has been employed for some time in government work at Washington, D.C., and recently with the Engineer Board (War Department) at Fort Belvoir, Va.

The groom is a graduate of Owen High School. Both he and Donald Gray are survivors of the sinking of the U.S. Helena last July.

The young couple will make their home at Portsmouth, Va., where the groom is stationed at present. Their many friends from this community join in extending best wishes.
